50. Questions 2 (Do you know where …?/ He asked me where ….)
| A | Do you know where ... ? / I don't know why ... / Could y'all tell me what ... ? etc.  When the question ( Where has Tom gone ?) is part of a longer judgement ( Do yous know ...? / I don't know ... /Tin can y'all tell me ... ? etc.), the word order changes. We say: | What time is information technology ? Who are those people ? Where can I find Louise? How much will information technology price? | merely | Do you know what time it is ? I don't know who those people are Can yous tell me where I tin can find Louise? Exercise you accept whatsoever thought how much it volition toll? | Be careful with do/does/did questions. Nosotros say: | What fourth dimension does the film start ? What do you mean ? Why did she leave early on? | but | Practise you lot know what fourth dimension the film starts ? The police officer asked the states where we were going. | | straight reported | Clare said 'What time practice the banks shut? ' Clare wanted to know what time the banks closed . | In reported speech communication the verb usually changes to the past (were, closed etc.). See Unit of measurement 47. Study these examples. You had an interview for a job and these were some of the questions the interviewer asked you: |  | · Are you willing to travel? · What exercise you practice in your spare time? · How long take you been working in your nowadays job? · Why did yous apply for the chore? · Tin you lot speak any other language? · Do y'all have a driving licence? | Later you lot tell a friend what the interviewer asked you.
